The Short Answer: November to April
The dry season runs November to April. Expect sunshine, calm seas, low humidity, and underwater visibility up to 30 metres. This is the best time to visit the Maldives for almost every type of traveller. Peak season is December to February, with the best weather, busiest period and highest prices. Book 6-8 weeks ahead minimum. The sweet spot is April-May, when the dry season ends but weather remains excellent and prices drop noticeably from peak.

November is when dry season begins, with thinner crowds than December and excellent water clarity. December-January brings perfect weather, peak crowds and peak prices. February-March is still peak season, and whale shark sightings increase around Ari Atoll from February. April is the end of peak season with excellent weather and falling prices. May is shoulder season with occasional afternoon showers and noticeably cheaper resorts. June-October is wet season, with rougher seas, reduced visibility, better surfing conditions and substantial resort discounts.
